CLINCAL CONNECT: TPN Home Start

When:  Jan 15, 2025 from 12:00 to 12:30 (ET)

The initiation of parenteral nutrition in the home setting can provide service to patients that keeps them out of the hospital and in the safety and comfort of their homes. Not every patient is a candidate for a home start. This session aims to provide learners with a review of studies and cases in which PN was successfully initiated and will transition into patient assessment to determine the feasibility for a patient requiring PN. Once a patient is deemed to be appropriate, the session will then cover the initial formula and the development the individualized patient care plan to start, monitor, and progress that patient towards their goal formula and infusion time.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify key factors that deem patients appropriate for home start TPN.
  2. Describe team skills and patient assessments/appropriateness for home start PN.
  3. Navigate start of care steps and initial formula.
